Jenny Grant Weinandy

Brief Introduction

I am currently a predoctoral intern at the NMVAHSC/Southwest Consortium, including UNM Hospital, the New Mexico VA, and the Indian Health Service. I am also completing my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at an APA accredited program at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, under the mentorship of Dr. Joshua Grubbs. Originally, I am from South Wales in the United Kingdom, but I currently live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

I will be an Assistant Professor at Ohio University (Athens, OH, USA) beginning Fall 2023. I will be recruiting a graduate student beginning in Fall 2024.

My research is primarily focused on using mixed methods to study perceptions and experiences of addictive behaviours, particularly "behavioural addictions," and addiction treatment, particularly harm reduction, in adults. My hope is that this research will improve diagnosis, classification, and access to evidence-based and targeted care for those who report problems with addictions, and help reduce stigma by informing both clinical treatment and policy making.

I am also committed to working towards scientific replicability, reproducibility, and transparency, conducting research in accordance with current standards surrounding transparency and openness. As such, more information about my current projects are available on the Open Science Framework (OSF) and a list of my previous publications are available at my Google Scholar Page. As a part of this, I also strive to conduct research in a culturally competent manner, which includes being aware of the impact of various cultural identities, such as race and religion/spirituality, in the areas in which we work and how our research may impact or be accurate for various groups.
